Youth exchange promotes cultural awareness and are a great way for American students to improve their intercultural communication skills, build global competency and spark intellectual curiosity , all of which will enrich their educational experience. Having international exchange students in American classrooms provides organic opportunities for educators to delve into global studies concepts while exposing their students to global perspectives, fostering cross-cultural understanding, and engaging both the international students and Americans students in global citizenship. Enrich your school community by integrating international exchange students in your schools. Learn how beneficial and enriching international student exchange can be and the resources available to support schools in successfully implementing international student exchange programs.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Discuss the many ways exchange students enrich the school and surrounding communities
  2. Explain how exchange programs support schools to make the process simple and not burdensome for school staff
  3. Locate fully funded scholarship programs available for American high school students to study abroad
  4. Access free resources available to school counselors to support launching a new or enriching an existing exchange program in their school
