Career Counseling for Equity in Rural America

There are many unique aspects to school counseling in rural America, especially around career and college planning. Learn about evidence-based Tier 1 and Tier 2 rural school counseling interventions within social justice frameworks, including place-based education, collaboration with teachers and coaches, outreach to families regarding social/emotional implications for career aspirations and methods to improve community support for programs. Learn how to address students’ career needs through the lens of familial, community and social influences, as well as support systems.
