Promoting neurodiversity is a part of school counselors’ advocacy role in creating equitable and inclusive schools. What is neurodiversity? Neuro refers to the brain, recognizing that human brains have the capacity to allow youth to have a completely different experience than the person sitting right next to them in the classroom. Diversity includes embracing the brain’s role in attending, regulating, learning and overall wellness for all students and educators. Discover how you can celebrate, embrace and support neurodiverse students across a multitiered system of supports. Learn about the school counselor’s role in counseling, consulting, collaborating and advocating for neurodivergent students.
