Foster children experience multiple traumatic events within their personal lives and often face additional hurdles at school. Identify how school counselors can support these vulnerable students in developing resilience. Walk in foster care students’ shoes through case studies from an elementary counseling group. Learn about the needs of students in foster care and walk away with tools to support and advocate for them.

Learning Objectives:

After viewing this webinar you will be able to:

  1. Recognize the prevalence of students in foster care within the general population and know how to identify them
  2. Discuss specific types of trauma experienced by students in foster care and the impact of ACEs
  3. Access resources to promote resilience among students in foster care that results in social/emotional, academic, and career success
  4. Critically review case studies of students’ in foster care and identify potential needs and develop a plan on how to address them
