Event Details

Our children and youth face many difficult challenges affecting their physical, emotional and mental well-being. The rates of student stress and anxiety have dramatically increased over the past years, with 60% of students reporting feeling stressed every day. Recent studies from the CDC have shown that 40% of high school students reported feeling persistent sadness and hopelessness. The consequences for students struggling with these issues include decreased academic performance, lower attendance rates, higher rates of anxiety, depression, suicide ideation and increased substance abuse. School counselors can proactively address student well-being to help students thrive and live well. Learn various concepts and strategies to support overall student well-being. Discover various strategies aligned with the ASCA Student Standards to implement quality instruction and counseling interventions to promote positive mindsets and self-management skills through classroom, small-group and individual instruction. Understand general concepts and practical application of growth mindset philosophy, mindfulness principles, various types of breathwork and cognitive strategies to help students with stress management and coping skills to address anxiety.
