GSCA Day on the Hill - A Success!

Advocacy ,

GSCA's Day on the Hill at the Georgia State Capitol was a huge success!  Thank you to all the school counselors who were able to attend. A strong presence was shown as we had about 75 counselors in attendance.

Thank you also to those who were able to come and speak to the counselors as we met at the Coverdell Legislative Office Building:

Representatives Randy Nix and Matthew Gambill
DOE representatives Barabra Wall, Dawn Mann, and Brent Shropshire,
Talley Wells from Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice
Helen Sloat and George Ray, GSCA Lobbyists from Nelson Mullins

After the informational/educational session the group moved to the Capitol for a photo with Governor Kemp. The entire group was then fortunate enough to enter the House Gallery and observe the morning session.

Representatives Gambill, Nix, Clark, Jasperse, Buckner, and Dickey sponsored a resolution recognizing school counselors and National School Counseling Week. We were thrilled to be able to get a photo of Representatives Gambill and Clark presenting the resolution to GSCA. Also joining us for the picture was Representative David Wilkerson, a great supporter of school counselors.

Thank you Gail Smith and Jennifer Diaz for all the planning that went in to organizing this event! Thank you also Maegen Mellick and Kerby Campbell for your help and support during our day.

Start planning now to attend our next Day on the Hill in 2020!
