GSCA is pleased to offer the option to attend the Ethics course, which will take place prior to the start of Conference, Wednesday November 11th, 8 am - 2 pm. Lunch is included.
This course has been approved by LPCAGA for 5 hours of credit.
Registration prices listed below are for the five-hour ethics course on Wednesday, November 11th only, and does not include entry to any other Conference meetings, events or sessions.

Ethical School Counseling in the Age of AI (Ethics) - Full Day, Includes Lunch

Speaker: Dr. Cheryl Sewell
- Review foundational ethical principles, relevant codes of ethics, and ethical decision-making models applicable to school counseling practice.
- Explore the opportunities, risks, and ethical implications associated with AI and technology use in educational and counseling settings.
- Analyze current events, legislation, and real-world case scenarios impacting ethical responsibilities and professional practice for school counselors.
Attendees will leave with an enhanced understanding of how to navigate complex ethical dilemmas, integrate technology responsibly, and apply practical strategies within their school counseling programs and professional roles.
Dr. Cheryl Sewell is an elementary school counselor with more than 18 years of experience supporting students' academic, career, and social-emotional development. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Services, as well as an Ed.S. in Professional School Counseling, from the University of Georgia, and holds an M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Throughout her career, Dr. Sewell has developed and implemented comprehensive, data-informed school counseling programs aligned with the ASCA National Model. Her work includes classroom instruction, small-group counseling, individual student support, crisis response, family engagement initiatives, community partnerships, and schoolwide programming designed to promote student success and well-being.
In addition to her work in K–12 education, Dr. Sewell serves as a part-time instructor and practicum/intern supervisor in the University of Georgia's counselor education program, supporting the preparation of future school counselors. She has been recognized for her contributions to the profession, including being named Clarke County School District Counselor of the Year and Clarke County Mentor Program Counselor of the Year.
Dr. Sewell currently serves the students, families, and staff of Timothy Road Elementary School in Athens, Georgia.
