ASCA 2026 General Conference Session: Navigating Students Beyond One-Size-Fits-All Career Paths

GSCA Community,
One of the ASCA keynote speakers and exhibitors, RoadTrip Nation, will be offering their college and career exploration program to ALL ASCA members after the conference at no cost. This is a fantastic opportunity for our counselors and students across Georgia.

If you are attending the American School Counselor Association Conference in New Orleans in July, be sure to stop by the RoadTrip Nation exhibit. They’ll have a very cool setup featuring a REAL RV, because what’s a road trip without the RV?

RoadTrip Nation will be holding a session at ASCA at 10:00 am on Monday, July 13, 2026.  One of the panelists will be GSCA's 2025-2026 President, Gabrielle Edmonds (nee Gabrielle Brundidge).

Gabrielle said this about the program: "I’ve personally been using RoadTrip Nation at my school since 2025, and my students and I absolutely love it. The platform is engaging, relevant, and incredibly impactful for helping students explore careers and postsecondary pathways in a meaningful way."

Session Description:

There are many routes to success, yet students are feeling increasing pressure to choose the one “right” path. How can school counselors help students navigate that pressure and explore paths that are the best fit for them? Join Mike Marriner, the co-founder of Roadtrip Nation’s awardwinning, student-led documentary series and nonprofit – featuring 25 years of real-world career stories – and school counselor Gabby Edmonds for a panel discussion with two young people who participated in Roadtrip Nation’s latest public television series. Together, this panel will share how exposure to diverse, nonlinear career journeys helps students expand their sense of possibility, build confidence and take ownership of their paths.

1) Help students move beyond “one right path” thinking

2) Facilitate more open-ended career exploration conversations

3) Build student confidence in navigating an unclear or evolving future of work
